I have a question about the type of vehicle needed to tow the trailer for my h26. A friend has offered to tow it for me to a new location with his Ford Ranger. He says it is a 4 cylinder model. I don't have the boat on the trailer and the route is flat and about 5 miles. Is his 4 cylinder adequate? I don't want him to harm his truck, but it's just an empty trailer. Any observations? Empty trailer should be ok
I wouldn't hesitate to pull my empty H260 trailer with a four cylinder truck for the distance involved, as long as you don't do anything wild. You'd certainly never want to do it loaded! The trailer may be wider than the pickup, so some steering caution might also be in order. I'll bet George K from Traverse City has the trailer weight specified on this site somewhere. You might try an archive search. If not, he's got an excellent treatise on towing at his web site.

Towing should be fine..
My h23 was towed by previous owner over 400 miles with a 4 cylinder s10 chevy. So I am sure am empty trailer is fine. Look in manual of truck to see what towing rate is should be at least 3000lbs if not 4000. Good luck

Frame mounted hitch?
A dual axel trailer may weigh close to 1,400 lbs which may place an undue strain on a bumper mounted hitch. I would think he is only transporting the trailer because that truck will not likely pull that boat up a ramp out of the water.
