This ship has been a famous (to us locals, anyway) member of the Newport Beach, CA nautical community for a couple years now. She is a recently-built replica of an 1812 privateer and blockade runner and is crewed and sailed in appropriate style. The crew and guests/passengers go out on frequent day-sails, mock battles with other tall ships, and during summer sail to places like Hawaii, Vancouver, and San Francisco. When berthed, she can be seen readily, from land or from a boat, in the northwest area of the harbor.

Radick and Staatsrad Lemenkyulll?

David, Are you referring to the Cinemascope "Windjammer" movie? The tall ship sailed through the Norwegian fjords to the music of Grieg. I was prettty young, but it made a big impression on me. The other tall ship, Staatsrad Lemonkyull (the second part is phonetic) was one we tied my childhood 32-foot catboat to, and took the Captain out for a sail on the Delaware River, It, too, is never mentioned. I guess the number of these older square riggers is just dropping for the usual reason$. Roger C27 #5012 &Mabel Cape Cod
