Hello everyone!

I am new to sailboatowners.com and sailing and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this forum. After significant research, I am nearly certain that I would like to purchase a MacGregor 26D or 26S. However, I am hoping to arrange an actually boat tour before securing my decision. Does anyone know of someone in the Tacoma, WA (south of Seattle) area that owns one of these boats and may be open to me taking a look at their vessel? I genuinely appreciate your help.

Regards,

Hopefully you get a response, but there are a lot of S and D owners that don't frequent these boards. If you don't hear from anyone consider going to some of the local marinas and seeing if you can find one in a slip or a mast-up yard. Then leave a note on it if you can't find out who owns it.

Good luck and we love our S. I'm partial to it over the D for us as the swing-up centerboard has been a help is sailing unknown waters. With your deep waters in that area I think either a S or D would work.

Hello Babbleduck,

I too looked at both the 26D and S for quite awhile before purchasing my D about a month ago. I live in Kent, so could easily arrange to let you take a gander. We've sailed a few times in Lake Washington and am looking for some good locations to put in in the south sound area.

Hi Sum,

Thanks for the reply and helpful ideas. I will definite be investigating in the near future. I understand you are a resident of Utah. I've lived there on three occasions--Mormon mission, BYU Bachelor's degree, and BYU pre-doctoral internship. Do much sailing on Utah lake? Where are some of the good sailing spots there?

Thanks,

Babbleduck

Hi Tjar,

Thank you for the reply! I would be very eager to arrange a time to come up North and tour your boat. My father owns an Olson 40 (listed on sailingtexas.com) and feels that the South Puget Sound is the best place to go sailing. We went out on his boat a couple weeks back and only saw two powerboats and a smal sailboat during our three hours on the water. It's very tranquil. I'm not sure how secure this forum is. Is there a secure way for me to share my contact information with you?

Thanks,

Babbleduck

Silverdale close enough?

My '88 26D is in the water on Dyes inlet through Labor Day. I'm thinking you should be able to contact me through my page in the owners directory of this site? She is a slow work in progress but sails just fine. We like to sail out from Bremerton around Blake Island and even to Seattle and back. The original 26s are great boats.
