Tough paper!

I've been looking for some kind of notebook to use for jotting down waypoints while in the cockpit (I'm coming to the conclusion the simplest way to backup the GPS and have the data available for dead reckoning is simply to write down the time, direction, and coordinates every now and then until the GPS conks out). Paper anything in the cockpit seems like a hopeless idea, but then I came across some samples of Hewlett Packard "Tough Paper" with my new HP printer. This stuff is unbelievable! It is basically sheets of opaque white plastic cut to look and feel like paper; when written on with ballpoint pen it is permanent and untearable. It can be printed on with Laserjet (but not Deskjet) ink to make your own log pages. It's somewhat expensive, but imagine having a log that will last for a millennium! If the publishing industry is smart they'll try printing some of their "beach reading" books on it...
