Sailors, My family and I recently returned from the Toronto area. We were forunate enough to have a day to sail. We rented a boat from Queens Quay Harbor very near the base of the CN Tower. The staff was nice and the boat was ready. It was a 23 footer and easily rigged with a small hank on jib. In Canada, they are not going to allow anyone to sail after 2007 without a boater's liscense. Incidentally, I also had to have a temporary Toronto Harbor liscense (a formality) to operate a boat in the harbor. Since we are boat owners (Hunter 34) as well as ASA grads there was no problem in renting the boat. At any rate, we circumnavigated the islands in Toronto harbor. The sailing was perfect with light winds >7 kts. The entire trip took about 2.5 hours and is an excellent way to visit and see the area. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Mike

and the view....

of the Downtown area is worth a milion bucks... I have been sailing there many times, and always is a pleasure... Did the beach on the west side of the island?

We were there too.

After attending the Hunter Rendezvous at Port Credit, Ontario, we spent an evening at the Harbour City Yacht Club on the Toronto islands. This is a small club tucked away on the island. Looking south you would think you are in the wilderness. Looking north you see the glorious Toronto skyline. It was a wonderful weekend and the best Hunter Rendezvous ever!

Huner Rendezvous

How was the Hunter Rendezvous? Did you like it? Was it informational? Our Rendezvous is scheduled for end of July here in So Cal. It will be my first and I'm looking forward to it but am unsure of what to expect. Tell me what you thought.

They will all be different.

Our Lake Ontario Hunter Sailing Association had a humble beginning in the year 2000. In the past 5 years it has grown into 2 rendezvous' a year, one in Canada and one in New York since Lake Ontario borders 2 countries. The rendezvous last week had over 35 Hunter sailboats attend. The 3 day program was everything from First Aid discussions, man overboard drills, sailing with the experts, sail trim, docking procedures, Hunter representative talk, sailing adventurer talk with slide show, breakfasts, bar-b-q, buffet dinner, casino night with auction, sail to Toronto for the huge fireworks show, and more. There was no way to attend all of the events, so we picked what we wanted to see or learn. This show was hosted by the local Hunter rep, Angus Yachts of Toronto, and Hunter Corp for the guest speaker and give-away packs. Angus Yachts put a lot of work into this event and made it a huge success. I have posted some photos of the event on our web site at http://www.lohsa.com. My advise: Everybody should try it once. If you don't like the way it went, offer to help run the next one. The attached photo is only half of the boats. Wish I could have gotten a shot from the air.
