Topping Lift on a 22

I spent most of the summer getting to know the new boat. A friend of mine has a 19 foot boat, and has a topping lift on his boom. Has anyone installed a topping lift? Is it easy/hard cheap/expensive? Are there any online instructions :)? thanks

topping lift

My topping lift is attached with a quick link to an eye strap at the top of the mast, and the 1/8 inch parachute shroud line runs down to the clew of the boom. There is a tube cleat and block assembly there that allows me to adjust the height of the boom. See my website for details. There are three pictures on page one that tell the story.
