My 1982 Catalina 27's Atomic-4 engine was a hurtin' unit during our week-long vacation cruise on Casco Bay, Maine, last week. The engine was close to death in the middle of the week, so I called a few boat yards from my cell phone to see if I could make an appointment for emergency repairs in the Portland area. I ended up on the phone with "Felix" from Handy Boat in Falmouth, Maine. Handy couldn't take me for another week, which was no good. So I described the symptoms to Felix, and he told me right away what it was, and how to fix it. He knew from my description that the high speed jet in the carburetor must be clogged. He said to remove the four screws holding the bowl the the body of the carb to access the jet, clean it out, check the bowl for debris, and reassemble. I did just as he said, and it worked! It saved our vacation. They didn't make a dime off of me, and I don't know anyone at Handy personally, but I have to give Felix cudos for his expert help. If you ever need an A-4 expert near Casco Bay, call on Felix at Handy Boat in Falmouth, Maine. Phil DeckerS/V "Catmandu"
