I just bought a 99 260. I will not get actual possession of it for a few weeks yet. I noticed on our test sail that the top batten on the mainsail is either broken or the wrong size. Where can I acquire a new top batten? Thanks.

You'll need to measure the lenght and width. They have some in stock, but had to order mine. If you are off a little bit on the measurement, you can use a hacksaw and file to get it just right. They charge you by the foot, so yours should be reasonable, considering it's the top one. The trick is to keep from losing them-the consensus semms to be to use sail tape to seal them in. I think its a 5/8 inch batten

You'll beable to order it from a sail supply store. My 23.5 came with really cheaply made Doyle sails. The battens were held in with velcro. If your sail is like this I'd Stitch the battens in with sail thread ad tiny grommets to the batten pockets and caps to the battens and tie them in like they have done on catamarans for years. If your batten is broken I wouldn't sail with it as it may tear the sail. Sailing without the batten won't tear the sail immediately but the fluttering leach really wears the material out and slows the boat as well. Most any local sailmaker will have the materials to get you sailing quickly or you can order them from Sailrite.com or West Marine.

I dont think it is broken

I don't think the batten is broken, just too short. At least, that is what the previous owner said. Is there not a place where I can just say I want a top batten for a 99 260 and get the right width and length?? The boat is in Jacksonville and I am in Macon Ga.

Jax is a sailing town

There are sailing supplys all over the place. Just buy some 5/8 batten material and bring a hacksaw and some sand paper.
