multi tool

Could the other catagory bias the multi tool ? I never leave home without my multi tool, no brand mentioned . I have owned one of there for several years .There is not much that can't be done with these tools . When I worked on an island I would carry a tool bag full of tools . When these multi tools came out I ditched the tool bag and only carried the multi tool ,a hammer and a adjustable wrench .

My Leatherman!

I've carried it for over ten years. Whenever anything needs to be fixed, I do it immediately and don't let little problems become big ones.

Skillet and spatula. I know ! that's not what he meant

but it is a rare day that I dig into a tool bag. I guess a palm and needle would be next.

Let's sahre photos of tool bags

I have the good fortune to have had very few problems with my boat, thus few on board repairs, and mahjot work has been done by my yard. The problem, is that I now an unsure how many tools to carry aboard. My Wuaquiez Preorien has many metric as well as English fastenings and fittings, so I have to double up on sockets and wrenches. I tend to over equip myself for "WORST CASE" scenarios. Maybe others have come up with a concise suite of hand tools they feel the must carry. I'll show you my tools if you'll show me yours. I'll post a photo as soon as I can record one.

I carry a canvas tool bag on board

With a lot of little pockets for the scewdrivers, pliers, etc and maybe because I'm an electrician by trade and out of habit I always have my linesman pliers out. This tool is a multi tool acting as a wire cutter, nutgrabber and a small hammer meanwhile in that canvas bag there are wrench's,hammer and sockets I've been thinking about getting the leatherman tool cause a friend of mine swears by it and I see some more friends on this site that swear by it.

Leatherman too..

I just upgraded my leatherman to one that takes bits, and now its used for nearly everything.. I keep the allen bits in it to fit my shackles, Love it ! Tool bag stays under the seat for the bigger projects, leatherman is to hand for the rest..

6 in one multi-tool screwdriver

Absolutely the most used tool in my bag. I used to have many srewdrivers flat and phillips - now only one tool. When it fit on the hose clamps without the screwdriver insert and it turned into a nut driver - I was sold!

Leatherman

I like my Leatherman and just like Nice N Easy, It goes everywhere with me (except Church). But don't take it to Disneyworld. Bag check guard sent me back to my car while my family waited nearly an hour while I dropped off my Leatherman at the parking lot where our car was. Had to jump a tram, then a ferryboat both ways. Real bummer! Example of security overload. CP

Vacume and vice grips and Weller soldering kit

Vacume: I have a dog and the only vacume that works is the Old style RED Dirt Devel. The new style with hose attachments are junk. Vice Grips: Always in a pinch Weller Soldering Kit: In this Kit you will find a tip that is Fantistac for cutting nylon rope and line. It is my new tool and I love it. Seems a little pricy at $70.00 but it is now my favorite tool because I do alot of rigging work.

The lowly pocket knife

Just a 2 1/4" swiss army pocket knife with teeny scissors(double as Wire cutters and strippers), a useless file with a very useful screwdriver end that is small enough to use on phillips too, and the massive and deadly 1 1/2" x 1/4" blade. It also has a toothpick and tweezers. Always handy and sharp.

Ditto. This is a great tool. It is used on virtually every project and repair.
