MacGregor Venture 222 Lake Pleasant
After driving the boat from Riverside, CA on very rotten tires 9 hours, we made it to Phoenix. The boat was owned by BudGates who took great care of it. Replaced the tires and added a spare. Pressure washed the deck and buffed the chalky gel coat smooth with an orbital buffer then by hand w ScotchBrite. The hull was perfectly shiny already. Trying to figure out what all the blocks and pulleys and cleats are for. She leaks through her bolt holes so gonna get into that today after pressure washing the cabin after ripping out the ceiling carpet which was dissolving into powder. OK w vice grips on the inside but better w 2 people. Having trouble with the sail furler. It's a home made device by someone. Will post some pics later. Overall made it to the water during a massive storm. Waited out the lighting and snuck into the water at Lake Pleasant which is pretty big. White caps with winds of 8 and 14 kts. Did a bunch of bow splashing into the waves. Got some new sailors hooked. Everyone of our 6 crew got to steer and command tacks. Need to figure out where to run the foresail sheets. Adding a winch to each side with stand up pulleys fore and cleats aft. A whole lot of small cleats made for a good beer holder. We appreciate Bud's help with this boat. Going to reinstate the Elsker Vann name.

I like the 3-corner hat! And the stained glass port…

But who is Bud Gates?
