I don't know about you guys but this has been a wierd weather month for my area. It has been cool most of the month and the wind has really been blowing. I am sitting on the boat, tonight, and the wind is at 25 knots at Piney Point bouy. The boat is really rocking in the slip. I was thinking about going out tomorrow and coming back Sunday but the weather isn't going to cooperate (rain etc. is forcasted). I went out two weekends ago for the night and it blew hard both days and I was on my ears when the sails were up. Has anyone else noticed this about this past May? I hope the last week is nice because I am leaving for Hampton then.

BadO, I checked the weather underground and the

next week isn't expected to get above 70 degrees. I sure hope the summer stays cool. Reef early and deep.

I hear you

I leave a week from Sunday. I may be putting the 110% on the furler and taking the 150% off. I get a much smaller sail and a better shape when I go to the 110% when it is rolled slightly (take it to 90%). I shoud be able to carry that and a reefed main in some pretty high stuff. I hate heavy weather sailing though. It is just worrysome, especially single handed.

Wear your PFD. People forget that the force of the wind

changes as to the square of the speed. so a 15 mph wind blows twice as hard as a 10mph wind and a 20 mph blows twice as hard as a 15mph wind.

Hey Bad!

It's been just as windy at the top of the Bay too. It hasn't calmed down long enough while I've been on the boat for me to run my headsail on the furler! Another one of those pain in the butt single-handing issues! It's not supposed to get any better this weekend as well. Putting a second boat bag together with Fall season warm clothing in it. Have had the heater running the past three Saturday nights just to stay comfy even in my sleeping bag.

Hi Bad

Yeah the weather has been something, the Saturdays have been great then Sunday is something else. Are you headed out over Memorial weekend? We are headed down river to Smith Point, want to examine "Little Wicomico" at Smith Point and then maybe down to Reedville. We have four days to get lost and plan to. Probably head over to Nomini tonight. If you are out give us a call.

Wind is gusting

over 20 kts today at my part of the bay -- and predicted to gust over 30 kts on Sunday. Be careful out there, guys, as stuff happens. All part of "Global Winding." :)
