We've just given our Onan an overhaul. Getting it together and set up again, it was suggested that it might be of value to replace the transformer with an As440 AVR. So, I venture online and find that the prices of an As440 AVR range from $32,00 US to 1100 Pounds, with the median somewhere around $500.00! Come on now, over a thousand dollar range?
I could buy 15 $32.00 units and change them out annually, just for giggles, and still be ahead.
Is it possible that there are more than two actual manufacturing qualities? One by Stamford Newage and another(?) or dozens of manufacturers each with varying quality products? If all the cheap As 440 AVR's were garbage, who'd be buying enough of them to keep them in production, after a while?
I just cannot see spending the big bucks in this case, unless I'm missing something here.
