I must be blind... did not see the discounts you mentioned. It helps , when asking for discussion on prices, quality and function to be specific. Perhaps the discounts were offered in the shopping cart area (ala Defender).
A quick comment. I recommend starting a networked system with a n2k capable chart plotter or multi function display. Add the "smart" sensors as the budget allows. Garmin, b&g, simrad make reasonably priced units that are price promoted on a regular basis by major chandleries. I purchased my unit with 10% off in a storewide promo.
I opted for the b&g vulcan 7, but Garmin has some nice units with depth transducer and charts for well under $500. These type of units have multiple screens for the various data sensors. I have wind, auto pilot, ais, vhf, depth, media/radio data on the n2k network. All share info and can be displayed on the reasonably priced chartplotter .
