alright guys. I continue to have trouble retracting my tongue extension after retrieval. After taking all the tension off of the winch it still glides in, then hits the front of the rest bracket dead on and stops with NO hope of lining up the holes for the safety clevis pin. Any ideas? short of using a jack to bump it up about 1/8 inch, which is what I've been doing and it's a PITA!

trailer jack

Have you tried using the trailer jack? On mine I find there are times when I have to use the trailer jack to take some of the load off the tongue so it will slide onto its rest. This is in addition/instead of loosening the winch. I usually find I have to do this if the loading area has a few dips or bumps which effect the alignment of trailer-tongue-tow vehicle.

interesting, I hadn't thought of that. I will give that a try. Anyone else have ideas?

Bottle Jack

I have had succes with other methods, ratcheting tie down strap, using blocks to change the angle between the trailer and car but the bottle jack has been the most simple for me

I had the same problem I found a bent angle iron on the toung. I bent the angle iron to orignal shape and reinforced it with a new oiece of angle. I also instaled new angle at the end of the box steel where sliding toung comes out before it gets to the rest.
