thanks for the responses

Thanks to all for the well wishes. I am now the proud owner of the Hunter 25. There is a small sign in the boat the says - a boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood into which one pours money. This is probably a common saying to you all but it was a first for me. While I laugh I'm beginning to see the truth of it. The boats go into the lake on May 3rd and I have made arrangements for some training with an experienced sailor. I am already dreaming of a sailing trip next year to someplace like Kentucky Lake. Thank you to you all, Dennis Bidney

Me too, but 10 yrs earlier

I did the same thing in February after turning 40. Guess I'm the early bird. Bought a 74 Hunter 25. Looking forward to getting it in the water, after I get the interior put back to gether. I have sailing experience, but never in big boats, only dinghys and windsurfers. I've always wanted a boat like this, since I was a kid, and decided my kids wouldn't have to wait like I did. Thanks to everyone for the good advice here. I'm especially glad to have my choice of boats vindicated.
