I put in a NaturesHead last year. It's a tight fit in a Vega, but workable. Many people seem to be put off by the idea of a composting toilet, but I find it works much better than a holding tank. There is no smell. The main "poop" tank just needs to be empties once a year for the a typical summer cruising couple and there are few part to break or leak.BobSolentium2296

I love the idea of a composting toilet, but being quite tall (both me and the composting toilets) I'd have to install a dome over the head to get 'head' room.I wish someone would make a lower one ...Peterwww.mostlyaboutboats.ca

Hi Larry,I quit buying throw away Jabsco's and boght a Raritan PHC.http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/manual/phc.htmlThey are a bit more expensive, but a lot better quality, and there are individual parts available for future repairs.I'm very happy with it, and so is the Admirable!Peterwww.mostlyaboutboats.ca

I was able to fit an Airhead in my Vega. It is a tight fit, and Rick is right, a tall guy does have to bend a little (not bad, just the head). The width and depth is fine, but the Airhead is 19 inches tall.

By the way, this head uses a very flexible hose for the vent (it ships with 7 feet). However 1.5 inch PVC pipe fittings fit the hose just fine. When I needed a little more length I want to a swimming pools supply store and bought some flexible PVC -- much cheaper and works great.

One thing I am trying to do it to vent it at the stern. I talked with the owner of Airhead and he said he has vented over 20 feet. My biggest problem is that the vent hose shouldn't sag as it will collect moisture. Not sure if it will be possible or not.

I had an airhead on my Alberg 30 and on my current boat a Wauquiez 32. It is the only answer to waste issues from my perspective. They should be the law for all boats., rec vehicles and small apartments. Wierd how some people talk conservation, go green recycle etc. purchase smart cars or prius's thinking that they are somehow saving the planet while impressing their neighbours. They make mundane comment like "we must save the planet for our grandchidrem" and then fly off to timbuck two to resorts where the closest you get to saving the planet is using the towels more than once and meanwhile they worry about getting tomatoes in winter while fretting about paying decent wages to those that wait hand and foot on them at the spa and complain about the culture and poverty in other countries while using their medical services...but stangely enough...they cannot handle their own waste.Arggggggggggg

When I installed my second air head I made sure that the area between the deck through which the vent passed was well sealed. For instance, if you have a cored deck it is best to seal the area between the inside and outside using epoxy. That way no odours can accumulate between the liner and the deck and possibly exit somewhere least expected. Brian Hoflersimplisupr@...

WOW. There is just so much there.

..... you should run for president !!!!

...... And then there are those people that think they can save the planet and just F***K things up worse and make life miserable for everyone else.

...... And then there are those people that thnk they can save the world with a toilet ..... ugg

..... Can you grow tomatoes in a compost toilet?

..... What is the proper ettiquette when raping another countries medical system and keeping poor spa workers down?
I dont want to offend next time I am out for a medical spa treatment.

I was just hoping to get a good toilet…lol. I know I can’t save the world…I can’t even save myself from some of the dumb things I do. But I thought picking the right toilet might be easy?…lol. This is looking a lot harder than I thought. Maybe a 5 gallon bucket?LarrySent from Windows MailFrom: simplisuprSent: ‎Friday‎, ‎January‎ ‎17‎, ‎2014 ‎7‎:‎06‎ ‎PMTo: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com
