Toahtsu which also builds the Nissan engines has pretty much done away with the two stroke engines except for the 3.5. I am not sure if the 2. 5 is offered anymore. The 9.9 has been discontinued but the 9.8 four stroke with three blade prop is going to be a good engine. There is a problem trying to attach cables to the motor as there is no cable hook up kit formely known as the SRC cable attachement kit if your are planning to run cables to the pedestal for pedestal control of the throttle and gear selection. If I come up with a fix then you guys will be informed. Remeber that you cannot do that with a tiller style Honda on any engine after 2000 model. so long fair well I am going to outer space

Honda outboard and the 18.5

Dave. Thanks for the info on the headstay for the 18.5. Question, does the Honda 5hp fit in the storage locker of the 18.5 Hunter? Also, did Hunter make an 18? I saw a listing for cushions for a Hunter 18. If they did then I have to get back to Jean at Seco South and tell her that the 18 and the 18.5 are different. She had the specs for the headstay for the Hunter 18 and I told her that they were the same, not knowing that Hunter made an 18. I'd heard the 18.5 refered to as an 18 in the past and got fooled. You are fine

You need not worry as long as you spoke to Jean. The year of the boat and model is all that is needed. No there was no 18 but only the 18.5. I cannot answer you on the motor storage as I can not remember. Sorry about that.
