i am rigging my roller furler to mount on the mast forestay.... underneath the drum is an eye with a 1/2" hole for a pin to hold the toggle ......then it mounts to the tang on the stem head at the bow (the holes here are round on all three points) but the toggle is u shaped where it hooks to the eye on the drum.... making the holes 90 degrees from one another on the toggle and the upper end of the u is open ......my question is what kind of pen do i put in the u shaped end ...all i have found so far are pens with a mushroom head on one end and a hole for a cotter pen on the other...i am not sure that is correct ...seems to me that the cotterpen end would need a washer or something.....to keep it sound left and right ........

well looks like no takers here so i have decided to make a pin out of ss 1/2" rod long enough to put a washer on each end with holes drilled just past the washers for cotter pins anyone
see this as a bad idea

Woody,

Johnson sells those. I don't recall if I went direct or not. But when I installed it, the inside radius was too small fot the stay. I took it to work, opened it up and jammed a correct size rod in and held with Visegrips. Then closed it around the rod in a vice works great now.

pins but i don't think i would use them for this application to much at risk here to trust my mast to.....for biminis and dodgers they would be great
