I am pondering the removal and replacement of both toerails in the spring. There is minor to moderate leakage into the cabin. Any thoughts?

Yup

I did that job a few years ago and got advice from the factory, a surveyor and a former Hunter dealer (now broker) The factory said there was tape like bedding under the rail but in fact there was nothing. Both the factory and the surveyor said to remove the rail and rebed it in 3M 5200. Works great unless you ever have to remove it again (I don't recommend it) It's possible at some time in the future the rail may be damaged and you'll hate yourself so use Boatlife or Sekoflex. I suggest you use the factory method of leak detection before you take stuff apart. Pressurize the cabin with a leaf blower or shop vacuum exhaust. Make a compaion way door panel out of cardboard and take the dorade vents closed. Then spray soapy water on the top sides and the leaks will bubble. I suspect you'll find leaks in addition to the toes rail. The design of your vessel make topside leaks run inside the core and the inside panels and some exit on the toe rail make the leak appear there. I chased topside leaks on mine for ten years and never got then all. Mine came from Shelburne Bay so we're almost neighbors
