I love fishing from our sailboat. My powerboat friends at the marina are always amused at how very little fuel we use in comparison to their consumption to get out to the same areas.

In two and a half hours we bagged
18 huge White Grunts
1 Red Grouper
9 Black Sea Bass
9 Spotted Pin Fish - we freeze them and use the as bait in the future.

All of todays catch was caught on cut bait from previous trips.

A very simple grouper rig. 8 oz round sinker on the fishing line with a plastic bead then tie the line to a swivel. 80lb test about 36 inches with 5o circle hook. Drop to the bottom and then raise 6 to 12 inches, if there is not a hit after a minute, raise pole so the bait slowly sinks again.

Thanks Recess:

I purchased some of those yo-yo reels last summer but I have not had a chance to use them yet. I'm really hoping to this summer.

Can't wait until sailing season starts up. Six weeks I guess?

I used to love trolling thru schools of bluefish with my MFG Bandit- we would kill them! The fish weren't spooked and as soon as the lures passed the school - bang! 'course we released them and didn't kill them It was also great boat handling practice

Dave, what time is dinner?
We had a grouper fry today about 4. We sent all the left over grouper home with my mother in law. My mother in law said the White Grunt was as good as the grouper, although a nice compliment to our cooking skills, she must be broken.
