In honor of today, I want to thank all the Veterans here on SBO. And also thank their significant others who support those vets.

If you are a vet, retired or just did a few years service, show us who you are.

Thank you for your service to our Country Brian...
My job gave me the best seat in the plane, sitting in the plexiglass bubble on the nose of this P2V.

I was aboard the Seashore SSN 669 back in 1982 when she circumnavigated. I was always first in line when we surfaced to go up the conning tower and get a breath of fresh air. The most memorable time was the predawn surface west of the Panama Canal and passing all of the freighters to go through first.

John, your photo brought back quite a few memories regarding the P2V. Served 6 years in VP94 "Crawfishers" based out of NAS New Orleans. Were transitioning to P3 Orion's just before I got out. Recently visited the Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola; there is a P2 on the back lot.

That would be fun to see. There is a P2 displayed at Moffett Field near San Jose CA. Been on the base multiple times. Always fun to stop and just walk around that plane.

I have to admit they often put out the best chow. At Andrews I drove across the base all the time to use the Zoomies dining facility.

I was privileged to be a judge in our veterans day parade downtown today! It was cold and damp but we had a good turnout. 80+ groups paraded by the stand. Vets from WWII thru JROTC participated.

I was in VMCJ1 and VMFP3 with the RF4B Phantoms. We would deploy with the USS Midway. Hand a hand in the evacuation of Vietnam. It's all in a museum or is a museum now.

Last night I was a photographer at a Marine Ball. It was great seeing all those Marines in their Dress Blues. I was so envious, but it did bring back some good memories of Marine Corps Balls that I and my wife attended.

Kloudie,
I was at NAS Memphis ( Millington,TN) for approximately 5 months attending "A" school. About 30,000 Navy & Marine personnel on board. Visited there about four years ago--all gone. The air field was converted to a local government airport. All of the school buildings & barracks gone on south side. The chow hall remains; however, it appears to be Federal office building.
