Hi I have a new Hunter 41 (2004) and the hull has not been waxed at all. It still has a wonderful shine to it. I have heard rumours that wax is not needed untill the F/G dulls. Anyone with any thoughts on this ?

I'd Wax It

...with a high-quality good carnuba wax. Mine has had her deck and hull waxed annually for the five years I have owned it and I believe fro the six years before. Looks new. FWIW, I pay $375 for the job. It is done by hand. Rick D.

Wax It

If you wait for the F/B to dull it is too late. I waxed my 24-footer w/carnuba wax, by hand, last Saturday. Took two hours, by hand. It's not hard work and will do wonders for the boat over time. Good luck....

Me too

But better than wax is Island Girl series of resins, which provide better protection, last longer and look better. I'm a true believer, having used conventional wax for years.

How wax topsides

how do you wax the topsides without making too slippery?

WOW! You must be REALLY heeling the boat

Topsides is considered to be that area of the hull between the sheer and waterlines. I assume you mean the deck and/or deckhouse. As far as waxing, most horizontal deck surfaces are finished in non-skid (at least they are on mine.) Why not protect the finish on the other areas?

I stand corrected...

"I assume you mean the deck and/or deckhouse." -Correct.
