Since I have lived aboard one vessel or another since 1969, it's mostly about comfort to me. Even as a youth, camping out on a boat was not something I enjoyed. It needed to be a home.
Obviously, for most, this is not a requirement as they have a nice comfortable home to go to after a day of sailing.
However, if your goal is to spend some time staying aboard, at the dock or on short cruises, the liveability of the boat could be of some importance to you.
Just standing upright in the cabin is important to consider, as is a galley you can actually cook a nice meal on a rainy evening and storage space for food, your gear and the boat's are of equal consideration.
