Oh Perry, I was in the same outfit. Did my time

too. The Moyers quote was a observation based on a lengthy interview with Joseph Campbell. You know who he is don't you? Are you living in another world? These terrorists don't fear us. They want to kill us. We are the infidel. They don't care what we do to them. If they're dead they just go have sex with their virgins. World War 3 started back in 79 when our embassy in Iran was taken over. Muslim men are out to murder us. Again look around. Tell that to Bush too. Saddam sending a check to suicide bomber families is not the same as taking out the WTC! That's our enemy! P.S. I can't let this go,,,DEMOCRACY in the Arab world? GOOD LUCK. These are the people that brought about the Crusades. They want us dead. They were founded on that principal. Their profit was a warrior. And here's a quote for you; "And finally, name any Muslim countries throughout the world that allow freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, equal rights for anyone -- let alone everyone, equal status or any status for women, or that have been productive in one single way that contributes to the good of the world. " General Chong, US Air Force. P.S.2 Not everyone believed Saddam had WMDs a couple of years ago. I didn't. You shouldn't use absolute statements in a debate. That's debate 101

Oh, one more thing RW

We're not a republic. We're a democracy. The majority rules. The only throwback to a republic is the electoral college. That's how Bush won. With any other form of government in America, nothing is left of the founding fathers goal; a republic.

Two tours and four campaigns

gives me some standing in this discussion. I was once scheduled to have both of my feet amputated due to gangrene. I was rocketed, mortered, seriously injured and still wake up in the wee hours wanting to scream from experiences which I will not ever be able to either explain or reveal. The quality of my service was not ever dependent on the facts or truth of the Gulf of Tonkin incident. I take personal offense at the comparison of that time to this. Our military defeated and captured the leader who was an enemy of the entire civilized world. It was invaded at the behest of the United Nations and with the approval of almost everyone in congress. That country has a new constitution in less time than it took to find the Rose law firms billing records. The casualities have been amazingly low. That is the result of real leadership and is a remarkable accomplishment. Every significant member of our government as well as those of the UN agreed that Saddam had WMDs. Go back and look up the timely quotations from Kerry, Kofi, Bill, Hillary, Gore, Albright, etc. They all agreed and there is ample evidence if you guys really care to look for it instead of perpetrating this current historical revision and myth. I was initially angry to read what Fred and Alan have to say and then I realized that it is kind of like being angry at someone who is mentally ill or senile. What good is it to spend energy arguing with people who have no good sense on this topic? I just regret that we cannot be friends. There are plenty of them and truth is I would go back and do it all over again in spite of the irrational hatred of many for what this country stands for and what our soldiers have risked on their behalf. That is what makes me proud to be a veteran, proud of other veterans and even patriots who were not in the military. I am proud of what I have done, proud of my country and very grateful for our current president. If they would take me, I would go to the Middle East and serve another few tours just to be in the company of the decent men and women who now are serving. P.S. - R.W. and others who said thanks: YOU ARE WELCOME!

Fred If you mean hijacking a post

That was meant to honor our vets then turning it to your pathetic political babble that you won. I am sorry, you are still a loser. You still don't know what these men have done. As a cop I would think that you had some sense of service. I respect the cop part of you Fred. willing to put your life on the line no matter what fool was out there. Fred I still respect you and honor who you are and the input you have here. never doubt that. r.w.landau

Patrick,,,ME TOO.

RW, do you know what you are saying to me? I am our military's biggest fan. I love them. Sent a son to them. Ask my wife. Not one word I wrote says what you are accusing me of. My beef is with the man in the White Ho,,, no, Crawford Texas. P.S. Patrick, I'm not sure who or what statement offended you and your service. I never wrote about Vietnam. I'm one of your biggest fans.

Everyone calm down

Alan, it was un-necessary for you to mention your feelings about the war here. The original post was not about the war, it was about expressing gratitude to people who've volunteered to risk their lives for the rest of us. Whether you believe they've been sent to do so for legitimate purposes or not is irrelevant. A belated thanks to all Veterans.

Fred Check Your General Chong Quote

That does not sound like the Major General (Dr.) Vernon Chong I know. He is the only Air Force General with that last name. It is either not him or was taken horribly out of context.

I'm not sure how to check it. I cut it out of a

presentation he made. The syllabus is going around the web. What's wrong with it?

RW I'm certainly with you when honoring our

military. Looking back at this thread, several comments were made in both extremes. (support/decent) I was flashing on what happened to this country because of Vietnam. None of us can ever thank guys like Patrick enough!

Fred, Just Google It, Took me 30 Seconds

I did not say there was anything wrong with it I just said it did not sound like it came from the the same guy I know, and it did not. This War Is For Real :: Terrorism :: Freedom's Zone ... We incorrectly attributed authorship to MG Vernon Chong, who, as it turns out, got the article from the ... Same with the Muslim terrorists. They focus the world on the US ... www.freedomszone.com/archives/2005/07/this_war_is_...

Sorry, Fred

Given what you have written here, in the cold hard light of truth, you are indeed no fan of mine. I will defend to my death your right to say this gibberish but I no longer value you as my friend. If you do not get it, ask someone else. I am too disappointed to try to explain what I do not understand myself. Over and OUT!
