J. Thanks for the info on the Autohelm. If you have the time could you contact me by email and give me some detail on going through the cockpit to reach the steering column. Did you install in the protective steel tubes or did you go directly into the binnacle or wheel support?? Any help will be appreciated. David

Autohelm Install Detail

Hi David: I installed the wires for the autohelm through the cockpit floor. I drilled a hole directly under one steel pedistal tube, and fed the power, compass, and remote wires from below. You can lift the pedistal up to drill the hole through the holder on the cockpit floor. A 3/16 inch hole was drilled through the tube where the motor would be located. A 1/2 inch hole was drilled in the tube at the NAV POD. The Nav POD covers the hole when it is together. I also have wind and speed located on the NAV POD. Two people are much better than one for this project. Good luck.

Thank you

J. Thanks for the info. I'm going to try your way. It doesn't sound too difficult and I only need to run the power lead because I'm mounting the control head on the starboard coaming. Thanks again David
