Does the Titan model 60 hydraulic coupler have a lockout for backing up? I was just looking at one to replace my Attwood and it doesn't look like the Titan has one . . . !

I don't think ithe Titan has a lockout for backing up. I took mine all apart to free it up and didn't see anything that looked like it could lock it. Don't have any experience with other surge brakes with the lockout. My Titan works fine on my Mac 26s.

so you have the kind of brakes that let you back up then? Much as I dislike the Attwood I'm concerned that mine will lock when I try to back up if I get the Titan.

ARE you looking for this add-on ?

of course this won't be of any use during coasting backward unless you add a backup switch separate from your break lights.

Nope, if it requires electrical it won't work. We launch with the trailer at the end of 30' of tow straps - complete immersion so anything with electricity going to it would short. I'll have to cancel the Titan order and get another Attwood. Maybe I'll let my son-in-law back the truck up and I'll lower the the receiver onto the ball from now on.

Attwood *and* Titan both arrived today. Despite the additional cost and my dislike of the way they made the pawl I bought the Attwood because it has the lockout for backing the trailer. Now I get to put it on. fun. 8^)

I've had 2 trailers with the Titan 60 and both backed up fine. They only stop when the trailer pushes against the tow vehicle, that doesn't happen when backing up. Let us know how the Atwood works.

I got the new Attwood coupler attached today and I have to say it went way too easy. Re-attached the emergency chain so it's got 2 ends coming out instead of just one. Now on to the next project!
