what is the BEST way to REMOVE the Old Name ( someone suggested Oven Cleaner ??),,, Vinyl Letters on the Transom -- 1984 31' was thinking about placing new name on each side (co$t 2x), as opposed to being partailly hidden by swim ladder,,, as always, thoughts and suggestion greatly appreciated,,, "Coyote"

Vinyl Letters - A hair dryer - warm it and peel off the letters. A plastic snow scrapper will help.

No oven cleaner on vinyl
Coyte: Oven cleaner is basically lye. It is not what you need to remove the vinyl lettering. A steamer for wall paper works very well. It is quick and easy if you have one. The hair dryer/heat gun is okay but be careful with any scraper that you use, it usually ends up gouging the gel coat. An Eraser will will work well but it also takes some time depending on the condition of the vinyl.
