Good day all,

I've sucked enough info out of here so it's time to reciprocate.

The cushions on my 78 H30 were pretty stinky to say the least. The moldy smell among other things.

Once I priced replacing I immediately started exploring other approaches.

I took 'em apart (removed the foam) and washed one of the covers.

These covers are part vinyl and part fabric so I didn't want to wash them in hot water. I washed them in warm water, let them go all the way through the cycle.

Then I 'spun' 'em again to get a little more water out.

While they were washing I got out the baby powder and sprinkled the foam liberally. I did it outside on the lawn, that stuff goes everywhere, least of all on me.

I had hung the covers up in the garage to dry, took two days. You'll not want to run the covers through the dryer, bad medicine I suspect. :naughty:

I sprinkled baby powder into the covers and put the foam back in, zipped everything up and viola! Nice cushions again.

With 13 of 'em it took a while but it's worth it.

I marked the foam and covers with matching numbers and indications of which way was facing toward the fabric vs: foam. THIS way you can get everything back together properly.

It takes some fiddling to get the foam fitted back into the covers properly. It's worth it.

I hope this helps someone,

Rich.

There is a neat trick to get the foam back into the covers. Put the foam in a plastic garbage bag and it will slide back in very easily then remove the garbage bag.
