Same here Jim, in at St. Augustine to the city dock for fuel and breakfast. Due to weather forecast we stayed in until Fort Pierce. From there straight out to Marathon. Two best sails were to Marathon, broad reach all the way across the Hawk Channel. And from Marathon to Venice was next best. We were in a hurry so bypassed Key West thinking we would get back down there. That's what I get for thinking.

Not sure if you are aware of the 'incidents' happening on the AICW in Volusia County (Daytona, New Smyrna, etc.) ... but BE SURE you have a 'tie-wrap' or lock etc. on the exit through hull of your holding tank system; and NOT the Y-valve. $250 fine if you dont. The boardings down there from the Volusia Sheriffs department have been a major problem for many years, some forced boardings with 'guns drawn' and lots of 'intimidation'.
Make sure your holding tank overboard valves are 'secured'.

Good to know Rich but never a problem for me. Coming from the Great Lakes there was no y-valve, head directly to holding tank only.

No problem for me either, I have a Type 1 MSD, LectraSan installed. Plus the y-valve to the holding tank is ty-wrapped.

Not the Y valve .... the 'throughull valve' must be tiewrapped or $250.00 (and maybe guns will be drawn). This area of the ICW is a 'toll booth' and you have to know how to play the game. 'throughull valve' secured, not Y valve.

Sitting in St Augustine. What a great place to be. The new mooring are just fantastic. Great access to the city and PUBS..... We might leave....

Any others from the sailboatowners group here?????

Hope to only be a year behind you. As a long time visitor on this site I've enjoyed you participation. The Dismal Swamp pics are great! Tell me one thing please. I have a Mercury inflatable similar to yours. How did you affix the decal and numbers direct to the inflatable? I'm sick of those plastic sign boards I've been using. Fair winds & calm seas! may be down that way on tues before turkey day....make sure you go to sailors exchange on king street if you can...cool place to hunt used sailing stuff ....lol...if i am i will look for you ...good luck and great times....

Finally got some internet access after a couple of days.

Numbers on the dingy have a special part that sticks to the hyplon and then the number to it. Can't remember where I got them. sorry.

We didn't know it but took a hit to our kiwi prop in the Dismal Swamp and showed up while motoring from Hilton Head to St Augustine. Vibration Thought it was the cutlass bearing but was the prop. It took a pretty hard hit and will have to have the three blades replaced, already on order. I just happened to have my original three blade prop with me and was an easy change over...

Jim, I just finished visiting your blog. You are making great progress in spite of the delay for parts. Dragon Point evokes memories of topping off with fuel at the marina just to the north of your location, the end of 36 hours of someone somewhere having a keyed mike on channel 16, playing with the dolphins while at anchor, and me wobbling up the bank and across the highway to the Publix while wearing a boot cast to return with a weeks worth of groceries.
Should you need another stop with excellent facilities and access to transportation, try Vero Beach Municipal Marina. Many cruisers use this as a spot to recondition themselves to the US after returning from offshore at Ft. Pierce. Southbounders sometimes wait here for weather to go outside or across the G Stream.
