Timber maintenance in cabin

In my new 2003 Hunter 44 DS there is a lot of timber wall panelling, I would like some advice on the best ways to maintain the timber.

Lemon oil

Use lemon oil for furniture. It's cheap and you can get it at any grocery store.

Probably ten years ago we contacted Hunter and asked what teak oil they had used on our P42. They said that it was Watco brand. I have used it since then with good results. It is available at Lowe's in pint cans.

Thanks for the info, having trouble finding lemon oil in Australia, will keep looking. Does any one know if Orange oil works as well?

For the 40.5 the Hunter manual calls for Dalys teak oil.

I have used tung oil followed by finishing wax and fine bronze wool for new interior woods and refurbs. It is highly renewable, non-toxic and leaves a beautiful rich luster. I usually apply two coats, one on top of the other, just before drying and rub the result with wool and wax just before it's completely hard.

Ditto on teak oil it actually builds up and makes a nice finish. Lemon oil is great because it smells good and kills mold, but I've read most brands are just scented mineral oils, but they tend to just absorb and fade, unlike a formulated teak oil.. Find real "teak oil". Been keeping my 1970's Danish table in great shape for 35 years and now on my Hunter!
