Did you check it out Don? It's an electric remote-controlled fishing motor mounted to the side of the boat. Not a very pretty addition to the boat. But I suppose if you never heel too far and always dock on the port side it should work.

The unit would be splashed big time on a starboard heel. I hope it's water proof.

There is a 30+ feet Herreshoff sailboat in our club with no motor. The guy can sail right to the slip at over 25kt wind.

When we need a bow thruster, we just duct-tape the 12v blender onto a boathook.

Makes the daiquiris taste a bit a bit fishy, tho'.

I have a friend with a 24' sailboat that launches from the trailor and manuevers it to the dock from the dock, try that with no motors.

Take a look at my remote controlled keel on YouTube controlled without getting up. Nice for solo sailing. Wait till you see my method for stepping the mast, remotely.

Whatever keeps you sailing. I'm sure this is version 1.0 Maybe you could have it situated above the toe rail and protrude through the deck. Raising and lowering it vertically instead of on a pivot arm OR better yet have it extend Telescopically (now your thinking) The way it is now, i'd be afraid that it would get sheared off rather easily.

I had thought of that, but I didn't have any linear drive is surplus. All I had is a 90 degree gear box, so I put it together. That would be a better way of doing it and I might later. Thanks for your idea.
