After spending untold hours on getting my boat ready for sailing, out I go and the tiller breaks in half. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? It is approx. 45 inches long and has a butt of 2"X2".

You can buy or order replacement tillers from places like West Marine, Defender, Anapolis Performance Sailing and others.

Good Luck!

I got one for ya that is 43 inches long I think. I got it off a Catalina 22 but,
i'm not sure if it's from that boat. If that works for ya let me know. I can send you pictures if you want. Email me and we can talk. I live in California

One of my sailing buddies made a nice looking new tiller for his boat from a laminated table leg he picked up from a woodworking supply store.

The place is amazingly huge. They make all of the OEM woodwork for Catalina.
They don't have a website but they will send you a cataloge.

Being that the tiller is a crucial piece of steerage & a valuable aesthetic item, don't skimp on it. This is where I would contact Catalina Yachts for original equipment replacement. It should cost less the a hundred bucks & is well worth it. Keep the new one varnished properly & it should never rot or delaminate. I would never trust poplar or oak for exterior marine grade application. I saw a fella replace his hatchboards & trim with red oak & they split & cracked apart within a year. Only teak & mahogony last outdoors. That's why they've been trusted for centuries.
