Tiller to wheel conversion for a hunter 280

Hi, Has anyone out there converted a tiller to a wheel on a 280. I know that the standard was a wheel, but the one I picked up has a tiller. I have spoken to edson and they do not have a listing for a 280. Any and all help would be appreciated.

May not be worth it!

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but in general, the cost to convert, even if you provide all the labor, is not worth it.

Robert's statement is opinion not fact. I have converted on other boats and think it was well worth it. ( my opinion )

Opinions will always vary

David, Robert I appreciate your feedback and realize that there will be conflicting opinions to a wheel conversion. I know people who will only use a tiller and some who maintain that a wheel is better on yachts 26 foot and bigger. Putting that to one side I would love to have feedback from both sides. It the freedom to have conflicting opinions that makes America great.

I believe Hunter used a 365 wheel steering system on that boat and yes it can be converted but it will take some work. Suggest having a professional to do the work. Call Hunter and talk with Gregg Emerson. Crazy Dave Condon
