Tillers, me and George
I have a 1994 23.5. The original tiller extension had to be replaced after a couple of seasons because the non-removable rubber connector rotted. I replaced it with the removable/extendable one mentioned in previous emails. The one change I made was to add a small machined aluminum block to make the transition from round tiller to flat flange around the insert which recesses into the tiller. The block is attached with screws to the tiller. Five seasons later it still works fine. I don't have a tiller tamer per se, but my buddy "George" does the trick with minimal cost, no maintenance, and no holes to drill. I run a line from the port stern cleat, make two or three turns around the tiller then tie the other end off to the starbord stern cleat. You can adjust the tension on the line as desired to allow minor adjustments or even tack/gybe, or tighten it down hard to hold the tiller fast while away from the helm. Hope this helps.Allens/vCouldn't Wait
