Anyone ever bent the screw at the base of the tiller on a 240, the screw that supports the tiller against the rudder post, keeps it level? Mine's toast and has to be replaced. Question: Is there a nut holding the screw inside the tiller? Please tell me no but tell the truth! Thanks for any insight. Drew

screw

If your talking about the 4 screws that hold the tiller to the rudder post there are no bolts. The holes are drilled and tapped. I had a problem with them constantly getting loose. Easy fix. Drill the holes and use two through bolts instead of the four screws. No problems since did this the first year of owning the boat. Sean Coerse 98 Hunter 240 "Right Coerse"

I think

I think he is talking about the screw that adjust the tiller drop position. If so the screw has no nut just tapped threads. The threads were striped on mine from the previous owner, which caused it the rub and scar up the plastic composite that it rested on. Since my boat was in slip I cut a piece of 3/4" plastic pvc and a wood dow with a slot cut into it. I slipped under the head of the bolt to hold it into position so the tiller was at the proper angle. It worked so good I never bothered retapping the thread.

Thanks...

...and bingo on the tiller drop position screw. I'll try and replace it - if threads are shot I'll go the pvc/dowel route. 'Preciate the help from both of you. Drew
