I have a 1979 Hunter with a tiller that is 43 inches. I would like to use a shorter one because when other people are in the boat the tiller is always in the way and seems like there is no way to escape it. Could I use a shorter tiller? Any recommendations?

Maybe you could just trim off 6-8" and round off the cut end? You could always add a hiking stick that folds back.

My tiller on my 22' is too long also. I'm not sure how short is too short, but I'd like to trim it back. The 7" rise is a little too much also. I'd really like to see a better option alltogther. It's a small boat and we are usually sitting down. The big rise isnt needed imho.

I cut 6-8" off the tiller on my S-2 7.9. Worked fine except when the helm loaded up.
