Hello all, Since this is the best place to get some great answers; here it goes: I'd like to replace the current tiller I have on my '99 240. I know it's the length it is now so that one may reach all lines, but since I do not sail alone I would like to replace it with a wooden tiller and much smaller. Any suggestions? Oh, this is haul out weekend :( wish me luck as water levels are rather low!! Anita

Lazy guy's approach

Unfortunately, I have no suggestion on a source for a wooden tiller. I actually kind of like the aluminum look but have contemplated shortening the length. Why not just modify the stock tiller with a liberal application of a hacksaw? It would certainly save an awful lot of work and expense. Good luck.

I'd modifiy Mr. Ed's approach just a little. Use a pipe cutter to get a clean cut. Then keep the piece you cut off so you can make an extension if you need it.

Thanks :)

hack saw; liberal use....got it, Thanks :) Seneca Lake blowing stink...too much for me today. Took the Anitabreak to the dock. I can motor over tomorrow to the ramp and take her out of the water...hopefully. If water level is too low then down goes the mast, back out to the canal, under the bridge and over to another marina with a crane! Should be an interesting story. tune in tomorrow!!! Anita
