I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy outboard controls that mount on the tiller? My wife is the one who controls the boat most often, but she is short enough that she needs to stand up in order to see. She cannot control the tiller as well as the outboard controls while docking and etc.. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You..

Does she have feet?

Although I am 6ft tall I also stand up when docking. I have learned to use my right foot(wasn't that a movie?). Anyhow, I use my right foot to move the shift lever and throttle. How about this? Make some extensions for her that she can reach. If she is that short they should not need to be too long. Not for her hair, for the controls! I think you are going to get into trouble with the tiller mounted controls. The contant flexing of the cables will make them break just when you need them the most. Tim R.

Yamaha Makes A 9.9 Four Stroke That Can

have separate controls. It has the shifter at the end of the tiller so you don't have to reach for it, or they can be extended by using a regular cable control set.

Yamaha remote

We have a Yamaha 9.9 Electric Start w/Remote and definitely recommend it. The start button is on the engine cowling so you'll have to reach for it, but the shift, throttle, and kill switch are on the remote. There is about 6 ft of stiff cable between the engine and remote. I don't mount the remote on the MAC tiller (the cable fights it too much), just leave it loose in the cockpit. The remote is actually the tiller & control that comes on the motor - you have to remove it, connect the cabling, etc. - and you no longer have a tiller to steer the motor with. I made one from an old axe handle. A bit of work to set up, but worth it. Before the Yamaha we had an Evinrude to which I attached a standard throttle/shifter mounted on the cockpit wall. It worked well also. Good Luck
