You might want to watch this video to see some other differences, it's about the the S.

I am totally puzzled by the fact that rudder system is different on the S. I had no idea. Where have I been?

I installed one of those tiller riser things from Idasailor too. Works pretty good, but I think it adds to the slop I feel in the tiller rudder linkage, I'll need to fix that, but it's well worth having the rudder lifted to a more comfortable height and off the laz. I don't see them listed on Ida sailors web site anymore, but it might be worth giving them a call to see if you can still get one. Wouldn't be too hard to make something like it either.

Here's another option. Before I added the tiller riser, I installed stainless steel rub strakes on the top of the laz hatch and the front of the motor well. That was better than having the tiller just drag across the laz top. The rub strakes look good too, adds a little bling.:D

I don't have a better picture handy, but I think you can see the rub strakes. Even though they don't really have a purpose now I think they still look good.

Being in Australia I new about the tiller riser but the cost of the post was too much. I showed a photo to a local stainless steel fabricator, gave him my tiller for a couple of weeks and he designed and made one for me. It works great and have never looked back. I also got him to make a mast base plate for the blocks soon after as well. Both great ideas.

Ja know my GF was wondering why we did not have something to hold up our tiller too, and then, and then---

We figured out what we had----

When sailing in fine weather and using the jib boom we have three ice chests accross the back of the cockpit.

One large one on top of the fuel locker and smaller ones of the same hight on either side sorta lashed to the rear cleets to keep them from moving about.

The tiller rests on the center one and we sit on the outer ones kinna like rail seats for a better view and, and it keeps the chests out of the way and the beer and muncheees near by.

One other advantage of sitting so far back and having mid boom sheeting is no ducking when tacking.

I have been checking out S's but-------
