I need to replace the Tiller on my Hunter 25. It currently measures 24 inches in length. I checked the Hunter Owners site for a new tiller and they say the replacement tiller is 48 inches long. I am trying to find out the original lenght of the Hunter 25 tiller. Was it 48 inches and the previous owner of my boat just cut it off to 24 inches or was the original tiller 24 inches? Thanks Wayne

h25 tiller

I have two tillers for my h 25. One is 48" so I can steer with my knees while I work the sails, and a 24" for when there are more than two people in that tiny cockpit. I prefer the long one because it gives me better purchase on the rudder, but in the real world everything's a tradeoff. Regards, Jim.

25 Tiller

A couple of years ago I was restoring my Hunter 25 and needed to replace my tiller. I looked everywhere including this web site but to no avail. I was able to contact the good folks who make the tillers for this web site and they did research for me and subsequently produced an authentic tiller for a 1976 25. Now that tiller is available on this web site. The irony is that after many months of searching for the right tiller and then having it custom made for me, a few months later I ventured into West Marine and saw a rack with a sign on it that stated, "Hunter 25 tiller"!!!! Can you believe that, a hard to find tiller on the rack at West Marine!!!
