I want to change my metal tiller to wood. A good friend of mine can easily match the metal with wood. I want to add "tiller tamer" for ease in singlehanded sailing and wood for appearance.
I would like to ask your opions about increaseing the length of new wood tiller by eight to ten inches. This would allow me to better handle tiller from helmsman postions near companionway. As many may know I have "jeffy reeefing" and out haul lines in boom near mast.
The tiller now has a "extension handel" which I will move forward on the new tiller.
My second year and I'm loving to sail more each day out......;).
My family and friends had a awesome fouth of July on board in sailboat parade on Beaver Lake, Ar.

Go for it. If you find it's too long you can always cut it off and refinish it.
