I prefer calling it a tiller lock, so with that said, here are the results of my inspection of the tiller/rudder interface. The device I have mounted to lock the tiller/rudder in the dead ahead position on my 95 H26 is a pvc plastic fitting atop the cockpit table stainless steel post. After a full summers use I found no wear of, or at, the bolt mounting the tiller inside the rudder side plates, to the mounting bolt itself or to the teflon(?) side plates the tiller shaft rides inside of. I did find very slight wear to the top rudder mounting pin just under its flared top where the pin contacts the top rudder post mounting plate. This is the original 7 year old part so I doubt the tiller lock has had any noticeable influence. I am thankful for the question about the possibilty of wear to this part and feel better after checking it out. Ray S/V Speedy
