Can anyone recommend a supplier that would have tiller arms for a Hunter 25'. Are there universal fits for tiller arms? Any help is appreciated, thank you. Mark Crociati

Marine Catalogs

You can purchase a new tiller arm from the West Marine, Boat/US or other catalogs. I purchased one many years ago for my '80 Hunter 25 and roughly matched the shape of the old one with one from the cataolg pictures. I had to shorten it only a bit for a perfect fit. You might call around to see if any of their outlets has some in stock and take the old tiller in for comparison.

Tiller

On my h25 I use the Cat 25 unit sold by boat us. Seems too long unless you need good purchase in high wind or if you're single handing, in which case you can steer with your knees while you're working the mainsheet or the winches. Other than that, I have a short (half-length) tiller that I use when we have company, because the h25 cockpit is somewhat tapered to accomodate its superior hull architecture. Tillers are easy to make. White oak or straight grained ash. Regards, Jim
