I am looking for a "Pacific" tide clock. Clocks in the West Marine catalogue are recommended only for the East Coast. Why? I thought that a lunar clock should work for the Atlantic or Pacific. Any ideas where can I find a West Coast tide clock? Thanks, Herb

Reason for different clocks
The reason the west coast clock is different is I think has to do with Diurnal, versus Semi-Diurnal tides. The west coast has some areas where there are twice as many tide cycles as the east coast. Someone more knowledgeable may be able to expound on this further. Wayne Estabrooks s/v Wind Drift

Actually it's the other way around coastwise. The North Atlantic tends to have 4 tides every 24 hours, 2 highs and 2 lows. This is what the tide clocks show. But even here there are irregularities that will make the time between tides vary (my tide clock hits some and misses others) so at best it's a rough guess anyway. The tide clock is a nice display piece but if I want to know I check a published chart or go to TidesOnline.com Jim "Prospect"

Thanks for the help. We have 2 high tides and 2 low on the West Coast in a 24 hr period which sounds like the same as the East Coast. Still don't quite understand. Maybe it has something to do with pragnant chads that you have on the East Coast!

Where can I get Tide info for the Texas Gulf Coast? I tried http://www.tidesonline.com but they only have tidal info for the Atlantic and Pacific (no Gulf of Mexico).
