Pearson 26 Kennebunkport
Hi Folks!

I'm the happy owner of a Pearson 26. Alas, I cannont afford my slip in Kennebunkport (big surprise) this year. I do, however, have a mooring in a tidal zone in nearby Cape Porpoise. Question: Can the Pearson 26 lie on its side as the tide goes out on the sand flats, and then right itself as the tide comes in? Does this put unacceptable stress on either the keel or the rudder stem? I am loath to lose my boat this year but sadly the alternative is to transport it home, where it will become a lawn ornament in my back yard. I would love to keep her in the water. Any thoughts or experiences along these lines? Also, I need to replace the bushings in the rudder stem; I know she will have to go on a lift to provide clearance to drop the rudder, but I don't know what else is involved regarding expense, the sourcing of materials, and precedure. I would be grateful for any knowledge any one can pass along!
