Thru hull water smells

In my Cat 30, I left the thru-hull valves open that drain from the sinks in the galley and the head open. Salt water came up through into the sinks and it smelled awful! Anybody know how to treat the smells? Obviously, I will close the cock valves next time.

Flush the water out. It has dead sea creatures in it. If you can't get water to drain, try pouring cold water in. Cold water is heavier than warm water.

You might post in the Experts section and ask the HeadMistress (Peggy) for the correct treatment or read posts in that section. I bought her book. It was inexpensive and offers good advice for these things. I can't remember what type of treatment she recommends but she knows her stuff.
