thru-hull issue? Maybe not!

Went to the boat and spent the night....when I opened the thru hull for the
Raritan PHII head, water would not pump into the bowl...The Head will pump out water from bowl to the holding tank. This thru hull shares duties with the Mermaid AC...providing water to the pump....there are no drips...and the thru hull handle seems to turn... almost too easily.....I'm going back tomorrow to start the AC (has not been run yet) and if it pumps water overboard it may answer my question...i.e. if the AC pumps water, the thru hull is open...so
is the issue the head, or is the issue the thru hull....??? Thanks for your thoughts and ideas. thru hull is original but is opened and closed every weekend in the spring summer and fall..Is 26

We've had problems with the head getting a prime and sucking in water even with the thru hull open. You could try taking the hose off the seacock and pouring a little water directly into the hose to help it get a prime, then reattach to the seacock. You'll probably spill some water but it may help fix the issue. Could also be the internals of the head pump aging and causing it to not pull properly.

If you can disconnect the hose off the through-hull somewhere close above the waterline, maybe try running a coathanger through it?

when is the last time you use silicone grease to lub your head pump...you may want to un screw the 4 screws and shoot a liberal amount in there and see if that helps

Went to the lake....94 outside....light winds, but it would be beautiful sailing..the thru-hull
was fine...our property mgr. got everything working fine....even the AC is now de-winterized...Head is working again too....thanks to all for your thoughts and ideas...
