Thru hull fittings

How difficult are thru hull fittings to change? My '85 Catalina has originals and one stuck closed. Time to change them. Any suggestions?

Ball Valves

My '85 Cat27 has glassed-in, threaded plastic through-hulls, with (plastic) ball valves screwed on top. If a ball valve should lock up, I believe it would be relatively simple to replace - just a matter of disconnecting the hose inside and unscrewing it! I would even do it with the boat in the water, after plugging up the hull opening. Good luck, Hans

I need to replace some of mine too..

but how do you do this while the boat is in the water? I know it's a dumb question but I have to ask.... Don't really want to wait another year to pull her out to change them as I'm putting on a new bottom paint.
