Plastic thru-hull fittings are only to be used above the waterline. The description as "stainless" appears just to describe the finish.

All the other fittings are the standard whitish nylon. I thought that SS looked great but am just not too sure on how well they will stand up to any real use.

They should stand up for years of use just as well as the white nylons would but like I said, when used above the water line. Below the water line then we would get into safety considerations and the plastic fittings are not reliable enough.

Thank you. I will give them a shot then.

They should be fine. They are only designed to be used ABOVE the water line. I had a nylon one that drained the sink in our head (1985 H'31). It did NOT have the SS cover over it and it is still functioning today.

After the SS corrodes away you will still have many years left with the nylon fitting.

Ditto with Steve Dion and I know of many of the early Hunter water ballast boats with what is referred to the plastic thru hulls still in use from the very first water ballasted boat by Hunter which I introduced 8/15/1992
