Hi, I have a two year old Yanmar 2gm that I didn't run for a couple of months because of the weather and all of a sudden the throttle (governor) arm is nearly impossible to move. (I disconnected the throttle cable to make sure that was not the problem). Have you ever heard of this and is it a major problem?

throttle sticks, not the cable

The cable works fine once I disconnected it from the engine. The lever on the engine is what is stuck.

Had similar problem...

...when seawater dripped from the heat exchanger onto the engine throttle arm. It rusted and became very difficult to operate. Here's what I did: Auto store: Buy "PB Blaster" penetrating oil. Also buy spray white lithium grease. Spray with PB & let sit overnight. Next day work the throttle lever with your hand. It shoud be free. When it is smooth again, spray it with the lithium grease and that will keep the moisture off. Spray it at the beginning of each season and you should be care free. I first tried WD40 and it worked, but required much elbow grease. My marina asst manager told me what to do and it worked better/faster.
